Chip Nut Bars
Produces 30 bars.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups unsifted flour
- 1 teaspoon Calumet Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup Baker's Satin Glzed Chocolate Chips
- 3/4 cups slivered blanched almonds or chopped walnuts
Directions
Melt shortening; cool slightly.
Beat in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
Blend into egg mixture.
Stir in 1/2 cup chips and 1/2 cup nuts.
Spread evenly in greased 13x9x2-inch pan.
Sprinkle with remaining chips and nuts.
Bake in moderate over (350°F.) for 25 to 30 minutes.
